Matt Winn has made five short flims and two features. He has written pilots for Channel 4 and has written scripts for Fox Searchlight, The Film Council and Lionsgate.


His most recent film, 'We Are Happy', a comedy about a dysfunctional marriage, stars Tara Fitzgerald and Elliot Cowan and premieres at the Austin Film Festival, 2015.


His first short, 'Round The Block', starred Jason Isaacs and Jimmy Nesbitt. 'Coming Down', a story about five friends relationships breaking down and reconstructing after a night out, became a cult classic

'Out of The Game' (2001) was filmed in Ibiza and screened on Film four and Channel Four.

'January 2nd', a feature film, a bittersweet romantic comedy, taking place during a news year's eve gathering, was filmed in Wales and released on Guerilla Films. It played at Oldenburg, Kiev, Jackson Hole, Toronto, Houston and other festivals.


The Brunchers', staring Tom Burke, Natalie Dormer and Rufus Sewell had its world premier at The Hamptons International Film festival in October 2013 and won the Special Jury Award at the Aspen Shorts Festival. It was officially selected for Palm Springs, Cinequest, Nantucket, Rhode Island, St Louis International and numerous other international film festivals.


'The Hoarder', a US set horror thriller film, starring Mischa Barton & Robert Knepper. It premiered at Frightfest, Glasgow Film Festival, 2015.









Matt has directed over a hundred commercials and has worked for many of the top London production companies including Stink, Freedom Films, Serious Pictures and Tomboy Films.


Matt has directed commercials for many international and national brands including Bells Whiskey, Burger King, the Financial Times, the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, and the BBC.


During that time, he worked for many of the UKs top advertising agencies including M&C Saatchi, Grey, St Lukes, Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi and JWT.


Recently, Matt won 7 awards at the Scottish Creatives, 2012, including 'best campaign' for the 'Sterling Superstar' campaign and 'best interactive campaign' for Scottish Road Safety, the latter featuring the highly unusual concept of actors interacting with a commercial playing in cinemas, that then turned viral.






Composer and musician, Matt formed electronica & jazz influenced dance group, D*Note in the early 90's. D*Note released two classic albums on Dorado Records, and the eponymously titled D*Note on Virgin Records to five star reviews in The Guardian and The Times. 'Coming Down', the sound track to the same film, was released on Virgin Records in 1997. 'Fuchsia Dog' was released on Channel 4 Recordings in 2001 and Laguna was released in 2006. 


Matt continues to write and produce music, regularly releasing on Cafe Del Mar records, and has upcoming releases on Decca Records.
