Music

Matt Winn is in post-production on the darkly black comedy feature, 'The Trouble With Jessica', which he  co-wrote and directed. The film was produced by Sarah Sulick and Parkland Entertainment and stars Rufus Sewell, Alan Tudyk and Olivia Williams.

Matt has directed three feature films and five award winning shorts. He has written pilots for Channel 4 and scripts for Fox Searchlight, The Film Council and Lionsgate.

 

'We Are Happy', a comedy about a dysfunctional marriage, starred Tara Fitzgerald and Elliot Cowan, 

'The Brunchers', staring Tom Burke, Natalie Dormer and Rufus Sewell had its world premier at The Hamptons International Film and won the Special Jury Award at the Aspen Shorts Festival. It was officially selected for Palm Springs, Cinequest, Nantucket, Rhode Island, St Louis International and numerous international film festivals.

 

'The Hoarder', a US set horror thriller film, starring Mischa Barton & Robert Knepper. It premiered at Frightfest, Glasgow Film Festival, 2015.

 

'Coming Down', a story about five friends relationships breaking down and reconstructing after a night out, became an instant cult classic.

 

"'Coming Down' created a stir, being heralded as the quintessential E-film of the 90s and shows five clubbers who are "coming down" after a night out. The film reflects the disparate emotions of the friends after numerous lost weekends catching the mood of the E- generation facing up to the future."

'Out of The Game' (2001) was filmed in Ibiza and screened on Film four and Channel Four.

'January 2nd', a feature film, a bittersweet romantic comedy, taking place during a news year's eve gathering, was filmed in Wales and released on Guerilla Films. It played at Oldenburg, Kiev, Jackson Hole, Toronto, Houston and other festivals.

His first short, 'Round The Block', starred Jason Isaacs and Jimmy Nesbitt.

 

 

 

Composer and jazz musician, Matt Winn formed electronica & jazz influenced dance group, D*Note in the early 90's.

 

D*Note released two classic albums on Dorado Records, and the eponymously titled D*Note on Virgin Records to five star reviews in The Guardian and The Times.

 

'Coming Down', the sound track to the same film, was released on Virgin Records in 1997. 'Fuchsia Dog' was released on Channel 4 Recordings in 2001 and Laguna was released in 2006. 

 

'Fuchsia Dog' is being re-released in 2022 by Dutch electronic label, Altra Moda. They are releasing remixes of the D*Note euro-hit, 'Shed My Skin' with new mixes by Christoph and other international house DJs

Matt continues to write and produce music, regularly releasing on Cafe Del Mar records. The early 90's Baleariac classic 'D*Votion' first released on Babel and featured on Cafe Del Mar 2, continues to stream massive numbers on Spotify. 

Matt also writes score music and currently scoring the music for 'The Trouble With Jessica'. 

Commercials

Matt has directed over a hundred commercials for many of London's top production companies including Stink, Freedom Films, Serious Pictures and Tomboy Films.

 

International brands include Bells Whiskey, Burger King, the Financial Times and the BBC.

 

During that time, he worked for many of the UKs top advertising agencies including M&C Saatchi, Grey, St Lukes, Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi and JWT.

 

Recently, Matt won 7 awards at the Scottish Creatives, including 'best campaign' for the and 'best interactive campaign' for 'Scottish Road Safety.'
